Portia is Vice President and Global Leader of Strategic Marketing at Ingersoll Rand where she leads an enterprise-wide center of excellence to promote marketing excellence across the enterprise. A veteran marketer, Portia uses her expertise in digital marketing, social media and brand asset management to build passionate customer engagement. Portia specializes in building high-performance marketing teams and transforming marketing functions into enablers of corporate growth.
She has held executive and senior management positions with the Center for Creative Leadership, Edelman Public Relations in Chicago and Burson –Marsteller in their New York and Shanghai, China offices. Portia is passionate about marketing transformation and cultivating the next generation of women leaders. She frequently speaks and writes on women’s leadership issues and marketing transformation. Portia maintains an active social media presence on her own website, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, where she frequently writes about life as a marketer and working mother.
She holds an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University, an M.A. in cultural anthropology and East Asian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in visual anthropology from Mills College. She is a trained executive coach and facilitator and is certified in numerous psychometric assessment instruments.
Portia is co-author of “Kick Some Glass: Ten Ways Women Succeed at Work on Their Own Terms”; (www.kicksomeglass.com), a career advice book for mid-level women, recently published by McGraw Hill.
